Run for Something Millennials

A new group called Run for Something recruited Millennials to run for office on a platform of changing inequality, pro-choice, health care for all, equality for LGBT people, criminal justice reform, fighting climate change, pro-union, pro- immigrant, campaign finance reform, and prevention of gun violence.[i] The group raises money and guides candidates to training organizations such as Wellstone, EMILY’s List, Latino Victory Project, She Should Run, Emerge, and Higher Heights. By March of 2017 nearly 8,000 candidates responded, nearly 2,000 volunteered to help such as doing candidate screening, and Run for Something raised $100,000 in grassroots donations. The group connected with mentors from the Obama, Clinton, and Sanders campaign staff and published a Run for Something guide published by Atria Books. They concluded in the Millennial spirit, “this work is really damm fun.”
